Right to MSP
Minimum Support Price is your legal right
What is MSP? Minimum Support Price is the minimum price the government guarantees for your crop. No trader can buy below this price legally.
  • Government announces MSP before every sowing season
  • Applies to 23 major crops including wheat, rice, cotton, pulses
  • If trader pays below MSP — it is illegal and you can file a complaint
  • Sell through government procurement centers (Mandis) to get MSP
How to get MSP: Register on your state's e-NAM portal or APMC mandi. Bring your Aadhar, land records and bank passbook.

Right to Crop Insurance
PM Fasal Bima Yojana — protect your crop
PM Fasal Bima Yojana protects farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities, pests and disease.
  • Premium: Only 2% for Kharif, 1.5% for Rabi crops
  • Government pays rest of premium
  • Covers flood, drought, hailstorm, pest attack, disease
  • Claim settlement within 45 days
  • Apply at nearest bank or insurance company before sowing
Important: Apply before sowing. Not after. Last date is usually 2 weeks before sowing season.

Free/subsidized water for farming
Your irrigation rights:
  • Canal water allocation — contact district irrigation office
  • PM-KUSUM scheme — 90% subsidy on solar pumps
  • PMKSY — Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana — drip irrigation subsidy 50-90%
  • Free electricity for farming in many states
  • Bore well subsidy available under state schemes

Right to Credit
Kisan Credit Card — loan at 4% interest
Kisan Credit Card (KCC):
  • Loan up to ₹3 lakh at only 4% interest per year
  • Available at SBI, PNB, all nationalized banks
  • No bank can refuse KCC to eligible farmer
  • Renew every year — credit limit increases
  • PM-KISAN beneficiaries automatically eligible

RTI — Ask government anything for free
Right to Information Act (RTI): You can ask any government office for information about schemes, funds, your land records.
  • File RTI online at rtionline.gov.in
  • Government must reply within 30 days
  • Fee: Only ₹10
  • Ask about: why scheme rejected, where is your money, land records, mandi prices

Collect evidence — Save the bill/receipt. Take photo of weighing scale. Note trader's name and address.

Call Kisan Helpline — 1800-180-1551 (Free). Tell them crop, price paid, trader details.

Visit Agriculture Office — Bring evidence to your nearest District Agriculture Office (DAO).

File written complaint — Write complaint letter. Keep a copy with date stamp.

Follow up in 15 days — If no action, escalate to State Agriculture Commissioner.
